“Show Dem” is a transitional track, a feelgood jam for the ladies before the album moves into its weighty third act. “I wanted to get out of the state of making serious music, and I needed something playful, so I asked my team to invite some of their friends to come party in Cotonou,” Mr Eazi offers by way of a backstory. “I flew them in to come and distract me.” Inspiration struck during a session at Cotonou’s Eya Studios, when Phantom dropped the beat that would become “Show Dem.” “I see the way this one girl, who was the kingpin of the squad, is dancing,” Mr Eazi says. “I already had two lines just watching her. I don't think she knew I was singing about her. There were a lot of girls in the studio that day so, I guess when the song drops, they will be thinking, ‘Which of us was the one?’” Whoisakin, an elusive, up-and-coming talent signed to Mr Eazi’s emPawa Africa, co-wrote the song and makes a cameo.
